NEW DELHI, May 18: Hours after the Delhi High Court's directive to the Central and Delhi governments on a petition seeking a CBI probe into model Jessica Lal's murder, investigators this evening started preparing a progress report on the case. They started off at a meeting convened by Joint Commissioner (southern range) Amod Kanth. Along with DCP (south) Sudhir Yadav and other senior officials associated with the case, Kanth reviewed every detail of the investigations since the day of the murder.
One senior official later said: ``We discussed the entire case threadbare. None of us want it to be transferred to the CBI. We have done all the hard work, most of those involved, including main accused Manu Sharma, has been arrested. It will be a major embarrassment for us if we are taken off the case.'' Kanth, however, refused to divulge details of the meeting. ``It was a CBI- style meeting,'' was all that he told Express Newsline. Kanth has earlier served with the CBI and has investigated the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case.
