Periera scores match winner

MUMBAI, MAY 17: Grace Periera scored the winner for Maharashtra when they defeated Bihar in one of the quarter-final league football match of the Senior National at Shillong today, according to the information received here from Surinder Karkera, the manager of the team.

In other matches, Bengal got past Kerala 5-0, Manipur edged past Goa 3-0 and Orissa rattled Assam 5-1.

On may 19, Manipur will meet Bangal in the first semi-final while Orissa will take on Assam.

Raja Adatrao best

RAJA Adatrao beat Ranji star Sairaj Bahutule by three runs (11-3=8) and (8-3=5) in the final of the 16th Late Khanderao Rangnekar Single-Wicket cricket tournament, conducted by Sporting Clubs' Committee at the Central maidan, Thane, yesterday. The competition was sponsored by the Satish Pradhan Sports Foundation.

Semi-finals: Sairaj Bahutale (21 n.o.) bt Rajesh Pawar (13-6=7); Raja Adatrao (32 n.o.) bt Sushant Manjrekar (17-9=8). Best fielder: Santosh Kudalkar (wk) and Chetan Tambde.

Kapil Dev XI defeated Vengsarkar XI by 12 runs in an overnight rain-restricted match of the Elf-Vengsarkar Under-14 cricket tournament at the Elf-Vengsarkar Academy ground, Oval maidan, today.
