Crime beat -- Chandigarh

Cheat booked
The city police have registered a case of cheating against Balwinder Kaur and a few residents of sector 45, for allegedly cheating Bikar Singh, a resident of Faridkot district, of nearly Rs 3.9 lakh.

3 gamblers held
Dhanas village resident Yash Pal, ISBT resident Raj Kumar, and Rachpal Singh of sector 25, Janta Colony have been arrested for gambling in sector 17. A case has been registered.

2 booked under Excise Act
The CIA staff of Panchkula has arrested Simarjeet Singh, a resident of Manimajara and his driver Suresh Kumar, a resident of Naya Gram Nagar, Chandigarh for possessing 24 bottles of liquor. According to the Superintendent of Police, Alok Mittal, they were arrested from the sector 10-11 chowk here, and bottles recovered from their Tata Sumo bearing a Delhi registration number. The Police has booked them under the Excise Act.

Whiskey seized
Kulwinder Singh, Gurmit Singh and Surinder Kumar, all residents of Nawanshahar district were arrested from sector 30 , when caught carrying a box of Bonnie Scot whiskey in a truck.

Motorcycle stolen
An unidentified person who offered to start someone's motorcycle reportedly drove it away. The police have regsitered a case on the complaint of Surja Ram of sector 10 Panchkula.

Liquor recovered
The city police have arrested Pawan Kumar, a resident of Bator village in Panchkula district for possesing 40 pouches of liquor. The Chandimandir Police has registered a case under the Excise Act.
