According to the president of the local unit of the league, Harbans Singh, the state government had earlier promised that they will refund the tax amount to cantonments boards in the state, but since then irregular payments were being made by the government.

The irritated ex-servicemen were addressed by local SAD leader Satinder Kaur Dhaliwal and were assured that their issue would be taken up with the Chief Minister.

The ex-servicemen also demanded that they be registered with the employment exchange.
