I am a final year MBBS student studying in a college at Dhule. I am a hostelite. Life at hostel is a unique experience. You learn a lot, at the same time you have to bear a lot.Hostel life has made me a confident person. As a child you always depend on your parents for decision making but once you are in the hostel, you can't depend on anybody. You have to learn to make your own decisions.
My overall personality has improved by living in a hostel. I have made a lot of friends. I get a chance to help others in their difficulties. Due to this my friend circle has increased, which is very important in a doctor's life.
Well, so far I only spoke about the advantages of a hostel life, but sometimes it may not be all that fun. First of all I have had to live very far away from my family. I used to feel very home sick in my earlier days and especially during examinations. I miss my family support during crucial moments. The biggest problem in a hostel is food and hygiene. My hostel remains dirty most of time. Being a medical student I realise the importance of cleanliness and food, but alas I can't help it! The food is horrible, but no alternative. Eat it and satisfy your hunger. Some of your hostel mates are too difficult to handle. They are diplomatic and cunning. Sometimes I get fed up and want to run home. But this is life and you have to cope up with it. All said and done I love my hostel.
