DUSSELDORF (Germany), May 18: Favourites Spain were upset 2-1 by Sweden, and Australia edged to a 2-1 victory over Slovakia, in the $500,000 World Team Cup tennis.Alex Corretja put Spain in front with a 7-6 (7-4), 6-1 win over Thomas Johansson, but former world No.1 and reigning French Open champion Carlos Moya was outplayed 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 by Thomas Enqvist, and Jonas Bjorkman and Nicklas Kulti then teamed up to overwhelm Albert Costa and Jairo Velasco 6-3, 6-0.
McEnroe beats Wilander
WASHINGTON: John McEnroe saved two match points in a passionate tie-breaker to beat Sweden's Wilander in the Sprint PCS Champions Senior tournament.
McEnroe threw his racket once, complained about two calls and was issued a warning for a code violation in the tie-breaker that takes the place of the third set on the senior tour. Having split the first two sets 6-4, 4-6, McEnroe rallied from 9-7 down in the tie-breaker to win 11-9.
