Two murder accused arrested
KHARAR:
The Sohana police have arrested two more accused, Karnail Singh and Surmukh Singh, in the murder case of Sekhanmajra village under Kharar sub-division, where Panch Avtar Singh was allegedly killed over a dispute involving panchayat land, a few days ago. According to police soucres, both the accused were produced before Kharar Judicial Magistrate Mandeep Singh Dhillon, who remanded them to police custody till May 21. Sources added that six accused in this case were already arrested while another accused Darbara Singh was still absconding.

2 veteran freedom fighters dead
KHARAR:
Two veteran freedom fighters of Kurali, near here, died a few days ago. Faqir Chand, a newspaper agent and former municipal councillor, died on the spot when he was hit by an unidentified vehicle while on his way to his shop. Harbans Singh died off cardiac arrest. Both were cremated with state honours at Kurali yesterday.

Hunger strike continues
PATIALA:
Struggle against the hike in hospital charges, medical education fees and withdrawal of suspension of 8 student doctors, entered its ninth day today. Students and their parents continued their hunger strike. Representatives of various public organisations came to express their solidarity with the agitators. Two hundred TSU volunteers also came to express their concern for the cause. Employee leaders Ram Chand, Vijay Dev, Gurcharan Singh and student leaders Rajinder Kumar, Hargurpartap Singh and Raminder Popi addressed the protest rally. All of them demanded withdrawal of hike in hospital charges, fee and suspension orders of 8 students. A TSU deputation met the principal, S.S. Sidhu, to press for the withdrawal of suspension orders by May 24.

Homoeopathic medical camp held
PATIALA:
A one-day free homoeopathic medical camp was conducted by the Confederation of Homoeopaths, Patiala, in collaboration with State Bank of Patiala, Rajindra Hospital branch, at Sri Tegh Bahadur gurdwara in Bahadurgarh. A team of eminent doctors examined more than 300 patients. The camp was inaugurated by H.S. Sehgal, AGM, State Bank of Patiala.

Two killed, one hurt in mishaps
AMBALA:
Two persons were killed and one injured in two separate road accidents in the district yesterday. Jagbir Singh was killed and his pillion rider Sanjiv was injured when their motorcycle was hit by a speeding truck on Ambala-Hisar road under police station Ambala Sadar. The victim was a resident of Sekta village. The truck driver, however, managed to escape. In another accident, a tractor driver, Naresh, was killed in a collision truck near Panjlasa village under police station Panjokhra.
