EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
SURAT, May 19: Three criminals, involved in a number of serious offences like armed loots, keeping firearms and thefts were re-arrested by the city police under provisions of the Prevention of Anti Social Activities (PASA) Act and sent to different jails in the state to serve sentences.

The city Prevention of Crime Branch (PCB) on Wednesday arrested Umesh Gangaprasad Gaud, Shitlaprasad alias Gorelal Bhagirath Patel and Ravi Khandu Thakre for offences committed earlier.

The PCB said that while Umesh Gaud and Gorelal Patel were on the run and lived in Azadnagar,Indiranagar and Tadkeshwarnagar areas alternately, Ravi Thakre lived in Kamal Park Society, Kapodara. Gaud and Patel had been arrested last week in a case of armed loot and possessing a country made revolver.

They had committed a number of offences in the Umra police station area and their PASA arrest was recommended to the police commissioner by the Umra PI. Thakre, on the other hand, was a listed vehicle-lifter against whom a number of cases of vehicle theft have been registered. PCB PI J M Suthar recommended his PASA arrest.

The release issued by the PCB said that Umesh Gaud has been escorted to the district jail, Junagadh, Shitlaprasad to the district jail, Bhavnagar, and Thakre has been despatched to the Sabarmati central jail in Ahmedabad.

The chowk Bazar police also tracked down Mitrasen Kashinath Nayak (18), a resident of Sanjaynagar slum, Katargam, on Wedensday. Nayak, the Chowk Bazaar police said, was involved in a murder-cum-rioting case at the slum in October last year and was absconding since.
