INDIA-ZIMBABWE

  • India set up a new record of most extras in a World Cup match by conceding 51 extras in Zimbabwe's innings. Pakistan, who conceded 42 extras to New Zealand at Christchurch, held the previous record.

  • As many as 90 extras were conceded, 51 by India and 39 by Zimbabwe, in the match which is a new record of most extras in a World Cup match. The previous record was of 61 extras in the Pakistan (29) and Sri Lanka (32) match at Perth in 1992 World Cup.

    South Africa vs Sri Lanka

  • South Africa defeated defending champions Sri Lanka by 89 runs to record their 12th victory in 17 World Cup matches. It was South Africa's first victory over Sri Lanka in World Cup and ninth in 16 ODI meetings.

  • Lance Klusener scored his ninth fifty in his 55th ODI which was also his first in World Cup

  • Klusener's assault in the last over by Sri Lanka's Chaminda Vaas that fetched 22 runs (0,4,2,4,6,6) was the eighth instance when as many runs were scored in a World Cupmatch
