Woman, son die in fire at Dharavi

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE  
MUMBAI, May 21: A 25-year-old woman and her two-and-half-year-old son died of severe burn injuries at her residence in Shahu Nagar, Dharavi this morning. Fire Brigade officials found the Seema Gangurde and her son Pradeep with severe burn injuries and rushed them to LTMG Hospital at Sion at 9.15 am. However, doctors declared the two dead before admission.

The neighbours had alerted the Fire Brigade after foul smell came emanated out of Gangurde residence and smoke was found leaking from below the door which was found locked from inside.

According to Dharavi police, the whereabouts of Seema's husband Deepak who is mill worker is being ascertained. Police said it is too early to say if Seema's death was a case of murder or suicide. Investigations are on, police added.
