PUNE, May 21: Bharatiya Janata Party spokesman Praksh Jawdekar today announced that his party would contest Pune Lok Sabha seat and would not give it up to anybody.Addressing a press conference, Jawdekar said candidate for Pune seat would be decided once election process begins. He said state leaders would recommend names of candidates for all the seats after holding discussions with the respective local leaders.
Answering a question on expulsion of Sharad Pawar, Jawdekar refused to make any commitment on future political alignments saying that Pawar had raised the same issue, which party had already taken up. He made it clear that BJP would not desert Sena at any cost even if some new alignment took shape.
Jawdekar said the first round of party's campaign would begin from Saturday. About 100 public meetings would be conducted throughout the state while the meetings would be addressed by top leaders including Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee, L K Advani, Pramod Mahajan, Gopinath Munde, Sushma Swaraj.
Jawdekar said the party had formed a separate election management committee, comprising of various leaders to monitor the campaign.
