AIADMK flays Laloo's remarks against Jaya

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE

CHENNAI, MAY 21: In a strongly-worded statement, the AIADMK on Friday criticised Bihar's former chief minister Laloo Prasad Yadav for his reported banter against AIADMK supremo J Jayalalitha. Laloo had recently said that the value of his total wealth is less than the value of the number of slippers Jayalalitha possesses.

AIADMK deputy general secretary K Kalimuthu obviously indignant at Laloo's `needless gossip', said that the former CM's `humorous dig' had hurt the feelings of `countless cadres of the AIADMK'.

"Instead of facing the CBI inquiry squarely, Laloo has been mischievous enough to raise needless issues," he said. "Is Rs 2 lakh the total value of the wealth possessed by Laloo?" Kalimuthu asked.

Stating that Jayalalitha had rooted out anti-national forces like the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam and brought new meaning and content to Indian sovereignty, he claimed that countries like the US had honoured her with title of `world statesman'.

"Laloo," Kalimuthu said, "does not seem to have anymaturity for the politician of his status and years."
