Khanvilkar urges Cong workers to support Pawar

UNITED NEWS OF INDIA
KOLHAPUR, MAY 21: Former Maharashtra minister and sitting Congress(I) MLA Digvijay Khanvilkar today extended his support to rebel Congress leader Sharad Pawar and appealed to party workers to stand behind the Maratha strongman.

He was addressing a party workers' rally to commemorate the late prime minister Rajiv Gandhi's death anniversary at Jailaxmi cultural hall here. He criticised the action taken against Pawar, who simply raised some points within Congress Working Committee as its member.

Khanvilkar said those who misled Congress president by projecting her wrongly as the prime ministerial candidate would repent for their wrong advice and people would definitely show these ``turncoat politicians'' their right place in the coming Lok Sabha polls.

The late Rajiv Gandhi had addressed his last election meeting here, and had expressed full confidence in the leadership of Pawar since Gandhi knew the mass backing and public image of the former Maharashtra chief minister, Khanvilkar pointed out.
