GUWAHATI, MAY 23: The Army, fighting insurgency in Assam, today claimed that no militant in the state has "ever been and ever will be forced to surrender.""Those who have come forward have chosen to do so on their own accord. The surrender ceremonies organised by the Army in the past bear testimony to the fact that it has never coerced anybody and will continue the same stance with regard to any future surrenders," an Army spokesman said here.
The spokesman said according to Central Government's latest rehabilitation package for militants there is already a screening committee to establish the antecedents of the surrenderees.
