Man drowns in well

Express News Service
May 23: A worker in a timber mart who was washing his hands and feet at a well at Dahisar lost his balance, fell into the well and drowned on Thursday evening. His body was found floating in the well on Saturday.

Police said Ram Kanojia had been employed at a timber mart in Dahisar and was staying on a footpath at Reay Road. On Thursday evening, he finished his work at around 6 pm and left the mart. When he didn't turn up for work the next day, his employer assumed he had some engagement at home.

When Kanojia did not report for work even on Friday, the employer went to his Reay Road home, but he was told Kanojia had not come home since Thursday evening. The family had assumed he had stayed back at the workplace as he had on some earlier occasions too. The employer then registered a complaint with Dahisar police.

On Saturday evening, a body was seen floating in the well near the mart by a worker in an adjoining mart. When the body was fished out, it was found to be that of Kanojia, police said. A case ofaccidental death has been registered.
