Girl kills herself
A 20-year-old unmarried girl, Sudha Naika, committed suicide by hanging after she was denied permission to go out with her friend for a wedding, the Bardoli police said. They were quoting from a complaint filed by Bachu Naika, the girl's father. Bardoli PI P M Patel is investigating further.

Two dead
Two persons died in separate road accidents registered in the district during the past 24 hours. Gulab Afniya Kokani (32), a TVS Scooty rider, died on the spot when he was hit by a jeep on the road beside Champawadi village of Songadh taluka on Saturday afternoon. The unidentified jeep (GJC 4993) is missing. In another case registered at the Palsana police station, a truck-cleaner, Madhir Usman, died on the spot when two trucks collided near Vensa village off Palsana on the Surat Dhulia Road. Truck driver Saiyyed Mazharali Usmanali has surrendered before the police. Cases under sections of the IPC and MVA have been registered.

Burns death
Devka Samadhan Nayak (35), a housewife residing at Balajinagar slum on Dindoli Road, died in the New Civil Hospital on Saturday night hours after she sustained burn injuries while cooking, a case registered in the Limbayat police station said. According to the police, the victim was cooking in her house at around 2 pm on Saturday when the kerosene stove exploded. She died later in the evening. Based on her dying declaration, the police have registered a case under CrPC 174.

Vehicle theft
A Hero Honda motorcycle (GJ 5 JJ 7104) belonging to one Shailesh Dhiru was reported stolen from the road opposite Akshay Diamond at Sardar Chowk, Varachha. The complainant told the police that he had parked his vehicle there and returned a few hours later to find it missing. The Varachha police have registered a case under IPC 379.
