LUCKNOW, MAY 23: Chief Minister Kalyan Singh received another blow today when BJP general secretary Govindacharya rejected, on the advice of Central party leaders, his and his supporters' demand for action against dissident leaders, including Devendra Singh Bholey and Rajesh Pandey.
Kalyan was already sore over their seeking of the resignation of corporator Kusum Rai as chairperson of the Social Welfare Board. Govindacharya, who arrived here on Friday for the second time in a week, exonerated the dissidents but warned that anybody, including the chief minister and the state party chief, making public their grievances from today onwards would invite disciplinary action.
The senior BJP leader, who met Kalyan Singh, Rajnath Singh, PWD Minister Kalraj Minister, Urban Development Minister Lalji Tandon and a few dissident leaders, was hopeful of a ceasefire between the warring factions of the state party in three-four days.
Govindacharya, who has extended his stay till Saturday, said he would organise a`panchayat' of senior state party leaders and urge them to sink their differences and gear up to bag more Lok Sabha seats in the next elections.
He said the chief minister had been advised to increase communication with the MLAs and district and block-level leaders and solve the problems of their areas. This would go a long way in appeasing the voters, he said. On the seat distribution among the allied parties, he said very soon the poll committee would meet. He said both Kalyan and Rajnath Singh had been advised to take a decision jointly on important issues.
