SHANGHAI: India's Jyoti Randhawa returned a remarkable round of seven under par 65 to finish joint fourth in the Volvo China Open Golf Tournament at Shanghai. Randhawa, who had slipped after a relatively poor third round score of 76 yesterday, returned a flurry of birdies which saw him share the fourth spot with Liang Wen Choong of China, Scot Rowe of Hong Kong and Taimur Hussain of Pakistan. The title went to Kyi Hla Han of Myanmar who played his fourth sub-par round to return with four under 68 and an overall score of 273. America's Christian Pena placed second on eight under par.

Sun Jun wins men's world title

COPENHAGEN: China's Sun Jun, runner-up two years ago, won the men's singles title at the World Badminton Championships when he beat Fung Permadi of Taiwan 15-6 15-13 in the final today. Permadi had accounted for top seed Peter Gade Christensen in the semi-final yesterday. It was the second gold medal in eight days for 22-year-old Sun, who had helped Chinawin the Sudirman Cup World mixed team title. Earlier, second seeds Ge Fei and Gu Jun won the women's doubles by beating Ra Kyung Min and Chung Jae Hee of South Korea 15-4, 15-5.

Rafter helps Aussies lift Team Cup

DUSSELDORF: Patrick Rafter won two matches in a row to help Australia to a 2-1 win over Sweden Saturday night for their first World Team Cup triumph in 20 years. The Cup features the top eight tennis nations. World number three Rafter, warming up for the French Open, first tamed Thomas Enqvist 5-7 6-3 6-3 to level the tie at 1-1 after Jonas Bjorkman had overcome Mark Philippoussis 6-4 7-6. Rafter then teamed up with Sandon Stolle to beat Jonas Bjorkman and Niklas Kulti 7-6 6-4 in the decisive doubles.

Manchester United takes FA Cup

WEMBLEY: Three doubles in five years has only left Manchester United one win away from a historic triple crown, after a 2-0 win over Newcastle in the FA Cup final. Manchester United is trying to become the first English team to win the League, FA Cupand Europe's top club trophy in the same season. Bayern Munich is also after the German triple. The two giants will clash Wednesday in the European Champions Cup final in Barcelona.
