Congmen go to court to claim office premises
Ahmednagar: The loyalists and the Pawar supporters Congressmen here have now resorted to court cases to claim possession of the office of the Ahmednagar District Congress Committee. One behalf of the loyalists, the district Congress committee chief Appasaheb Rajale has filed a suit in the court.

Both the groups are trying to acquire possession of the district office located at the Azad Chowk in the city. The loyalist group has claimed that the office originally belonged to the Indira Congress while the Pawar supporters claim it belonged to the erstwhile Socialist Congress. The Pawar group had initially taken an aggressive stance in this regard and therefore, the loyalists had sealed all the cupboards immediately after the meeting held to observe the death anniversary of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi. Police protection was also sought for the purpose. Rajale filed the court suit when the Pawar supporters persisted in claiming possession of the office. The court has ordered status quo till June 7.

In 1998 too, the Pawar supporters belonging to the Socialist Congress had taken possession of the office and it had remained in their possession for a long time. In view of this experience, the loyalists have taken precaution this time. It is learnt that the owner of the building has also stated in an affidavit that he has rent the premises to the Indira Congress.
