PUNE, May 28: Apart from setting up flood control centres, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has identified 38 spots which are likely to be affected by the discharge of over 35,000 cusecs water from the Khadakwasla dam.The PMC has taken precautionary measures to avoid the large scale damage in the event of floods during monsoon and a meeting of police officials, homeguards, irrigation department officials, electricity and telecom departments was held today to emphasise the mandatory coordination amongst them.
Assistant Municipal Commissioner (slum control department) S N Jawdekar said that slum dwellers located near the Mutha river will be temporarily shifted to PMC-run schools. The civic administration has called upon the the slum dwellers to shift before the monsoon starts in order to avoid the damage caused by floods.
