PUNE, May 28: The "inaction" by the traffic police in curbing haphazard parking of three-seater and the six-seater autorickshaws in Pimpri has prompted an organisation here to agitate. The Front Against Corruption (FAC) in a statement yesterday said despite several complaints to the traffic police (a branch in Pimpri) about illegal and haphazard parking of the rickshaws, particularly at Shagun Chowk and the railway overbridge, no action has been taken against the errant drivers. The six-seater autorickshaws are parked on space meant for pedestrians on the railway overbridge near Shagun chowk. Lives are put to risk as numerous mishaps have taken here because the carriage width of the road is reduced.
The parking also causes a major hurdle in smooth traffic movement. So is the case at the road approaching the vegetable market.
Pune Newsline (May 2) had highlighted the menace.
The FAC in a letter to the police commissioner said it would hold a fast at the traffic branch in Pimpri on June 8.
It threatened to file a court case if no action was taken.
