PM calls all-party meeting today

UNITED NEWS OF INDIA  
NEW DELHI, MAY 28: An all-party meeting will be held on Saturday at 11.00 am to discuss the situation arising out of infiltration of a large number of Pakistan supported intruders in the Kargil region and the subsequent air bombardment.

Defence Minister George Fernandes and other senior Defence Ministry officials will brief the meeting called at the behest of Prime Minister A B Vajpayee.

According to official sources, the Prime Minister has agreed to convene the meeting on the advice of President K R Narayanan. Vajpayee met Narayanan last evening and apprised him of the latest developments in the Kargil sector including the events leading to the military operation with the help of Air Force from May 26.

George Fernandes is expected to explain to political parties the circumstances leading to present situation in Kargil as well as seek their views of the issue the, sources said.
