NEW DELHI, May 28: Seventeen-year old Vikas Pandey, an 11th standard student of Boys High School, Allahabad, claimed the all-round individual title in the men's section in the fifth Federation Cup Gymnastics championship that concluded here at the IG Stadium today.Pandey logged 51.20 points, while teammate Mohit Yadav finished second with 49.10 while Rajinder Prasad from Punjab won the bronze in 48.25. Pandey and Yadav's tally also helped Uttar Pradesh claim the team title at 242.70 while Punjab came second in 232.15, pushing Railways to the third spot (230.80).
In the women's section, the 18-year-old, Sundary Mandal, who hails from Calcutta, took the all-round title with 32.60 points besides taking gold in her pet events floor exercise, vaulting horse and uneven bars. The other impressive performer in this section was Sumita Sharma, the girl from Punjab, who won gold in the beam.
Hosts Delhi also picked up two gold in rythmic gymnastics through Amrita Hazari, whose victory in the ball and hoop, however, was hotly contested by Maharashtra, Karnal and Sonia Sharma of J&K.
The 13-year old Amrita Hazari, a 10th class student of Guru Harkishan Public School (India Gate) won the all-round rhythmic gymnastics championship title. Amrita collected two gold and a bronze medals.
