EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
Chandigarh, May 31: The city police have booked two women, including an IAS officer serving with the Haryana government, residing in Sector 5, on the charges of cheating, committing breach of trust, forgery and criminal conspiracy. The two are sisters and have been accused by their brother Rabindra Singh, a resident of Vasant Kunj in New Delhi, of fraudulently withdrawing Rs 5.3 lakh from a local bank account. He has also accused them of trying to grab his house in Sector 15. Singh, who works in Delhi, had let out his house to the State Bank of Patiala in 1985 and opened an account along with one of his sisters for depositing the rent. His sister was authorised to withdraw 10 per cent of the rent towards maintenance of the house. He alleged that the other accused, who is a senior IAS officer, wrote to an official of the bank `forging' his signatures and stating that the ongoing arrangement was not acceptable. The complainant added that the two `hatched a conspiracy to get the house vacated from the bank' . The accused withdrew a total of Rs 5.3 lakh by the time Singh returned to the city.
