High security planned for Indo-Pak tie

LONDON: Organisers are enforcing high security at Old Trafford when India play Pakistan in their crucial Super Six league match next week after alert warnings from security agencies that some pro-Pakistan Kashmiri groups may cause trouble.

Yorke, who played for the the team that won their third trophy of the season against Bayern Munich in the European Cup final on Wednesday, came onto the field with the drinks trolley during Australia's innings. He joked with childhood friend and fellow Trinidadian Lara and the rest of the team. Lara had earlier asked for permission to go and watch Yorke play in Barcelona on Wednesday but the West Indies management refused as it would have meant him missing the group `B' game against Scotland.

Official song released, a day too late

LONDON: The official song will be released here today -- 24 hours after hosts England were knocked out and 18 days after the launch of the tournament. The lyrics of the song, ``life is acarnival'', caused some wry amusement in the media.

Its opening line, ``heroes come and heroes go'', according to the British press, clearly did not refer to Alec Stewart's home side, who failed to reach the second round after being beaten by India.

The Guardian, meanwhile, ridiculing the late release of the song - and England's early exit - argued it should be translated immediately into Hindi.

Bursting firecracker kills 6-year-old boy

HYDERABAD: In a freak incident, six-year-old Vishal lost his life when he was hit under the throat by a splinter from bursting of crackers at Malkajgiri in Ranga Reddy district of Andhra Pradesh on Saturday night.

The bizarre incident happened when some boys excited over the fall of Greame Hick's wicket. Vishal hails from Bidar in Karnataka and had come to his grandparents house here for summer vacation. He died on the way to the hospital, police said.
