No ceasefire, says George
There is no question of negotiating a cease-fire with Pakistan, Defence Minister George Fernandes said yesterday. The only thing that can be offered to the militants is safe passage.
Early warning of Pak action was ignored
Even as charges are bandied about of an intelligence failure by the Army on Kargil, facts are emerging that point to laxity in anticipation and surveillance as well. They show that there were enough warning signs the Army should have heeded, but did not.
Debates can wait, let Forces do their job
Looking at the situation in Kargil, the immediate need is to leave the Forces to do the job there and not get into ridiculous debates of the sort that are currently going on. The need of the hour is to bring the crisis to an end.
