PUNE, JUNE 1: Nearly seven wadis - hamlets - are in a limbo as they are neither independent nor were they merged along with the 38 fringe villages which were included within the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) limits two years ago.The PMC has consistently been demanding their merger within the city limits, as a population of 1,000-1,200 each in the seven wadis on the outskirts of the fringe villages enjoy the facilities provided by the civic body.
``However we cannot impose taxes or even make budgetary provisions for the lot as they do not fall under the PMC,'' lamented Additional Municipal Commissioner Deepak Kapoor who raised the issue at the Municipal Commissioner's conference in Mumbai on Thursday.
The hamlets are actually attached to the merged villages, however remain stranded as no man's property. These include Yeolewadi - attached to Kondhwa, Menglewadi - attached to Katraj, Jambulwadi - attached to Ambegaon, Wadachiwadi - attached to Undri, Gujjar Nimbalwadi, Kolewadi attachedto Ambegaon and Bhilarewadi attached to Katraj.
Time and again the PMC had demanded their inclusion within corporation limits - to no avail, said Kapoor. However, the state government assured that it would look into the matter and expedite the issue, he added.
