Paes-Bhupathi in finals of French Open

PARIS: India's Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi entered their second successive Grand Slam doubles final defeating Swedes Nicklas Kulti and Mikael Tillstrom 6-4, 6-3 in the French Open semi-finals at Rolland Garros on Thursday.The top-seeded Indians meet Goran Ivansevic and Jeff Tarango in the final.

28 hurt in Delhi blast

NEW DELHI: Twenty eight people including four police personnel were injured in a battery-triggered bomb blast, suspected to be the handiwork of Pakistan's ISI, outside a police post in the congested Chandni Chowk area of the walled city here today. The bomb, kept in a rexine bag, exploded outside the Fountain (Fawwara) police post just opposite the historic Sisganj Gurudwara at about 1455 hours. The bag containing the bomb was abandoned by two men including a Sikh at a sweet shop nearby .

Explosives arrests

CHENNAI: In a major breakthrough Tamil Nadu police today arrested four persons, belonging formerly to the bannedIslamic fundamentalist outfit Al Umma, in connection with the planting of powerful explosives in several parts of the state on May 30 & 31.

Oceansat on

BANGALORE: The Ocean Colour Monitor (OCM) on board Indian Remote Sensing Satellite, IRS-P4, (Oceansat) was switched on successfully during the spacecraft's 117th orbit at 1202 hours today, according to the ISRO here. The telecommands to switch on OCM were issued when the satellite was passing over Bihar, Orissa and Bay of Bengal off East Coast of India over Sri Lanka.

Yugoslavia plan

BELGRADE: Yugoslavia has accepted a peace plan for Kosovo put to Yugoslav president Slobodan Milosevic by Russian and EU envoys.
