Ahlawat is new UT LR
Satish Ahlawat today joined as the new UT Legal Remembrancer-cum-Director of Prosecution. Prior to his posting here, Ahlawat was CJM at Kaithal. He succeeds Sanjiv Kumar, who has been transferred to Hisar as chief judicial magistrate. Ahlawat, a judicial officer of Haryana cadre, has served at various places in Haryana as Judicial Magistrate and later as CJM. Hailing from Delhi, he had joined the judicial service in 1986. He will remain in the Union Territory on deputation for a period of three years.

Pepsu staff stir
The employees of the Pepsu Roadways Transport Corporation today held a demonstration outside their office in Industrial area today, against the recently introduced contract system.

Reinstated
The members of the Punjab Land Mortgage Banks Karamchari Union today held a rally in Sector-17, to hail the reinstatement of Baljinder Chandu Majra, the president of the bank union. In view of this, the employees called off their slated protest dharna.

Sweepers' demand
The members of the Sweepers' Union, Chandigarh, today pressed for re-employing daily wagers, who have been relieved, to meet the requirements of the city.

Forest staff stir
At least 3,000 Forest Department workers from all over Panchkula district have been sitting in an indefinite dharna since yesterday in front of the Forest Bhawan building in Sector 6 of Panchkula.

Meet on disabled
The Chandigarh Social Welfare Advisory Board is organising a series of meetings, seminars, workshops and symposia from tomorrow to make the disabled aware of the laws and rules pertaining to their welfare, treatment and the rehabilitation measures.
