Draftsmen hold rally

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
CHANDIGARH, JUNE 3: A rally was staged by the members of the Punjab Draftsmen Association to press the bank to pay the due provident fund amount of Rs 2.27 lakhs to recently retired Circle Head Draftsman, Kuldip Singh.

The employees allege that the issued draft of the said sum to Kuldip Singh, who retired from the design institute of Ranjit Sagar dam, was encashed by a con man.

Addressing the rally, the chairman of the state sub committee, Tarlochan Singh, and the president of the UT union, Gurmel Singh Sidhu, said that a draft of the sum of Rs 2.27 lakhs drawn on the State Bank of India was issued in the name of Kuldip Singh, who retired from the bank on April 30. They said a person impersonating Kuldip Singh got the draft encashed, hence robbing him of his dues.

The members said that Kuldip Singh should not suffer as the responsibility lay with the bank and the department.
