CHANDIGARH, JUNE 3: In his latest series of water colours, noted artist Shiv Singh recreates the universe as a riot of colours in concentric rings. Water colours one of the artiste's favourite mediums give the images a powerful, revolving dynamism. As many as 20 such water colours, of varying dimensions, have been displayed at the exhibition, titled "Cosmic Forms and Life Images". This series has earlier been exhibited at Delhi, Baroda, Ahmedabad and Mumbai.
"I have broken geometric forms into open forms of endless echoes. My cosmic forms represent the cosmos as a balance between centrifugal and centripetal forms combining beginning and end," is how he puts it in his own words.
Singh, who is primarily a sculptor, has, over the past 40 years, also created murals and furniture using wood, brass, steel, bronze, aluminium, brass and copper. He later turned to water colours and drawing.
The exhibition, which was inaugurated by Sneh Mahajan, Principal, MCM DAV College for Women, at the Alliance Francaise, will be open to the public from tomorrow till June 12. Shiv Singh will also give a lecture on June 9.
