Mi-17s on stand-by in Drass sector

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
DRASS, JUNE 4: The Indian Air Force (IAF) has asked its Mi-17 fleet to be on stand-by in the Drass sector until the Tuloling heights and Point 5140, the most crucial features, are recovered.

The modified Mi-17 gunships had on May 28 wreaked havoc on infiltrator positions until a volley of Stinger missiles fired by infiltrators brought down a chopper, killing all the four occupants. In a pre-dawn attempt to recover the heights, the mechanised infantry made considerable advances.
