The Army's website has been flooded with messages of support, offers of donations, and volunteers for active service. A foreign national is amongst the volunteers for a tour of duty in Kargil.

The number of message received on the Army webpage now runs into four figures. Located at armedforces.nic.in, the Army page is drawing a flood of support from networked Indians, including the expatriate community, for the troops fighting in Kargil.

A Mumbai resident expresses his gratitude by saying, ``The total population of India is thankful to you all for trying to save our land. You have left yourfamilies for saving your motherland. We are proud of you.'' An Indian in Atlanta, USA, says, ``I stand by the armed forces of our country at this moment of crisis, I pledge my support and service in any form for my country. I would feel honoured if I can in any way help the cause of our armed forces.''

An Indian cardiologist on a fellowship in Israel has written in to offer his services. ``Could you please tell me in what way I can serve as a cardiologist for our great military and promise honorary service to my patriots.'' Another volunteer is a 19-year-old foreign national, who is a marketing student. Bruce Robert Ekman says, ``I am interested in joining the Indian Army. I am unfamiliar with your rules regarding foreign recruits.''

``I am interested in making a monetary contribution benefiting the families of those Indian military personnel killed... Can you please let me know the authority to whom such a contribution should be made... I am certain that there are other Indians and NRIs who also want tomake monetary contributions,'' says the accounting professor at Hamilton, Ontario, in Canada.

``We million of Indians (earning dollars as software engineers) spread over the world can at least pay a few bucks to the mother nation if not sacrificing our lives as our great soldiers. By doing so we can at least save our few beloved soldiers protecting the borders by giving them advanced equipment,'' writes a US resident.

A group of Indians from Qatar wrote in to say, ``We, overseas Indians, are extremely moved by the kind of operations you have undertaken in the Kargil and Drass areas of Kashmir... We salute you with humility and pride with the satisfaction that no one else in this world could be like you, who work selflessly for the nation... May the Almighty be with you to give you more courage, strength and the will power to withstand the pressure of our enemy... We salute the Indian Army and pray silently to those who laid down their lives.. Hamara Bharat Mahan.''
