PANAJI: Goans cast their ballots using electronic voting machines (EVMs), deployed for the first time to cover an entire Assembly election in the country, with the state registering 70 per cent polling on Friday. The elections -- to 39 Assembly constituencies – will decide the electoral fortunes of 208 candidates.

Kuber chief held

NEW DELHI: Chairman of the Kuber group of companies Praduman Kumar Sharma was arrested by the Crime Branch on Thursday. Sharma, who has been evading arrest for a long time now, has been remanded to five days' police custody.

JMM case

NEW DELHI: A CBI court on Friday discharged former chemicals and fertilizers minister Ram Lakhansingh Yadav and five other former MPs from the JMM MPs bribery case. The court also dropped charges against former JMM MPs Suraj Mandal, Shibhu Soren and Simon Marandi.
