Ahlawat gets Personnel dept
The Administration has designated UT Legal Rememberancer Satish Ahlawat as ex-officio deputy secretary, Personnel of the Administration.

Ex-servicemen offer to go to Kargil
Members of the All India Ex-servicemen's Party have volunteered to serve in the Kargil sector to support the regular Army units deployed there. A resolution passed yesterday stated that the members would servethere without availing of any emoluments.

Mayor visits Sector 35 market
City Mayor Kewal Krishan Adiwal yesterday visited Sector 35 market and heard the problems being faced by the shopkeepers. Adiwal took a round of the market and was apprised of the poor condition of parking areas, ill-maintained roads and streetlights that have not been working for several months and assured them that their problems will be looked into.

Lecture at CRRID
Prof ML Sondhi, eminent scholar and expert, former diplomat and MP, will deliver a lecture on "Global Perspective: Economic and Security" on June 5 at the Centre for Research in Rural and Industrial Development (CRRID) said a press release, today.

Ex-professor dies
Prof A. S. Kalra, 59, former member of faculty, Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh, died of a massive heart attack at his residence in S.A.S. Nagar, this evening. Prof Kalra retired from the PEC last year after a service of 30 years, a release said. The cremation will be held 10.30 a.m. tomorrow.
