Action sought
Journalists and photo-jounalists from the City, Panchkula and SAS Nagar today demanded action against a Punjab police official for allegedly manhandling a press photographer covering the Hans Raj Hans Nite at Phase VIII circus grounds in S.A.S Nagar yesterday evening. In a meeting held at the Chandigarh Press Club, the journalist decided to submit a signed memorandum against the police official after meeting the Punjab Director General of Police Sarabjeet Singh.

Crafts exhibition
The three-day Crafts Exhibition-cum-Sale of garments and leather goods prepared by the students of vocational courses, began at Government Central Craft Institute, Sector 10, here today. It was inaugurated by UT Home Secretary.

Seminar on polls
The Panchkula Press Club is organising a seminar on "Who is responsible for the mid-term polls?" at 10 am tomorrow, at Hotel Pallavi in Sector 5. The State Parliamentary Affairs Minister Attar Singh Saini will be the chief guest.

Probe sought
The "Zila Patrakar Parishad" mourned the tragic death of the Ambala-based Jansatta reporter, Virender Sachdeva, who lost his life in a road accident under mysterious circumstances, a few days back. and urged the Haryana Chief Minister to grant an immediate relief of Rs.5 lakhs to the bereaved family.

Book released
A book titled "Teaching of Human Values: A Grave Problem: How to Solve?" was released at Shivalik Public School, Sector 41, today. The book, which was released by Gurumukh Singh, has been written by M.R. Chilana, former Deputy Education Advisor, Government of India and professor NCERT.

Blood donated
In a blood bank organised by the Blood Bank Society in arrangement with the HMT Ladies Club at the HMT Pinjore today, 156 persons donated blood. Inaugurating the camp, Sushma Babbar, president, HMT Ladies Club, assured the PGI authorities that HMT will fully support the blood donation movement.
