BKU threatens stir from June 21

PATIALA, June 4: Bharatiya Kisan Union in Punjab has decided to start agitation from June 21 to press for the long pending demands of the farmers.

In a statement here today, Gurmit Singh Dittupur, general secretary of the Union, said that the decision to this effect has been taken during a meeting of the union. He said that the union will organise district-level protest dharnas in the state and thereafter present memorandums to the deputy commissioners. He said that the Union has decided to activate its cadre at the grassroot level too. The union would a meeting on July 1 to review the progress made in pressing their demands.

Meanwhile, in a separate statement, Pashora Sigh Sidhupur, president of the union said that the union has nothing to do with politics.
