Ambala phone network collapses

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
AMBALA, June 4: Following complete collapse of telecom network between Ambala Cantonment and Ambala City yesterday, rural exchanges attached with the Naraingarh Telephone Exchange continued to face problems today.

The system suddenly developed a snag yesterday, which could not be detected till evening. All the subscribers in the twin towns remained cut off telephonically, All they could hear was the recorded message of ``Lines are busy. Dial after sometime''. Repeated efforts by the subscribers to register complaint proved futile as the number 196 could not be reached.

Worst affected were the businessmen, especially exporters.

The rural exchanges in Naraingarh continue to remain affected.

Re-elected Sushil Kumar Aggarwal was elected chairman of the Ambala Cantonment Central Phoenix Club, yesterday. He has been elected to the post for the fifth time.
