Amritsar pile up 291 runs

PATIALA June 4: Due to some good batting display by SP Singh (92) and Tejinder Singh (62) Amritsar were able to to pile up 291 runs against Patiala on the first day of two-day Punjab Inter-District cricket tournament for Katoch Shield being played at Dhruve Pandove Cricket Stadium here today.

Amritsar won the toss and elected to bat. Apart from SP Singh and Tejinder Singh, Devinder Singh and Sandeep Sewal also contributed 31 and 23 runs, respectively, to help Amritsar score 291 runs in 83 overs.

For Patiala Reetinder Sodhi took five wickets for 58.

Chasing the total Patiala were four for no loss in three overs. Reetinder Sodhi (2) and Gaganinder Garry (2) were on the crease when the stumps were drawn for the day.

Amritsar (first innings): 291 allout in 83 overs (SP Singh 92, Tejinder 62, Devinder 31, Sandeep Sawal 23, Reetinder S 5 for 58, Lakhbir 2 for 53, Amit Kakria 2 for 62).
Patiala (first innings): 4 in 3 overs (Reetinder Singh 2 n.o, Gaganminder S Garry 2 n.o).
