CHANDIGARH, JUNE 6: "Career planning should not be viewed as a one-time exercise but as an on-going process". This was stated by Pervin Malhotra, Executive Director, Career Information and Guidance, on the last day of "Alternatives", the seminar on career development by CII.Stressing on the need to start planning one's career in Class X, Malhotra said serious thought should also be given to the broad areas one is inclined towards. "Instead of a few limited preferences, it is necessary to keep one's mind open and look at the broad spectrum of options," she said.
She emphasised a positive attitude and enthusiasm for the job one is doing, and said that in the Indian management environment one has to be very flexible and should be ready to switch over to different career or a different industry altogether without affecting overall career prospects.
A question-answer round followed the session with queries being put by students and parents.
