PATIALA, JUNE 6: Development activities in the state have taken a back seat for the government is busy settling political scores and interfering in religious matters. This was stated here today by Member of Parliament Prem Singh Chandumajra, member of Akali Dal headed by Gurcharan Singh Tohra.Speaking to The Indian Express here, Chandumajra accused the state government of being indifferent to the problems of the people and failing to keep its promises. He said there was a widespread resentment among the farmers because of erratic power supply especially in Samana, Patran, Sunam and Moonak areas. He said the people in these areas were getting power supply for just 3-4 hours daily ever since the storm, on May 12, hit the area. The storm had uprooted electricty poles, transmission lines had been broken and trandformers rendered disfuntional.
He added that though the Patiala administration had ordered a special girdwari soon after, it was shelved. The SAD leader said that the crops grown in Shutrana and Khanouri areas had been adversely affected due to the recent breach in Bhakra main line canal.
