Madras in quarters
Fine knocks by Deep Dass Gupta (63) and Rehman (61) helped Chand Khanna overwhelm Darling by 43 runs and reach the quarter-finals of the DDCA Hot Weather tournament at the Kotla. Tony Singh (3 for 26) and Subhash Chaudhary (3 for 26) were the successful bowlers for the winners. In another pre-quarter-final match, Madras Club crushed Delhi Colts by 102 runs at Palam-B ground. Harender Chaudhary (4 for 9) was the most successful bowler for Madras while Viney Singh's fine spell (4 for 36) went in vain for the losers.

Adil Sheikh excels
An unbeaten 52 by Adil Sheikh and John Anthony's 50 helped Collage Group thrash TN Colts by 65 runs in the fifth Shanti Challenge Cup at Shanti Sports ground (Vasant Kunj). Sanjay Saini (2 for 2) and Mahesh Bhati (2 for 40) were the main wicket-takers.
