CHANDIGARH, JUNE 8: The Chandigarh Administration has written to the Haryana government for extending the deputation period of present UT Chief Engineer R. K. Jain in the Union Territory.According to sources, the Administration has requested Haryana for extending the deputation period of Jain up to December-end in the Union Territory. The case of utilising Jain's services for a few more months in the Union Territory was cleared by the Administration at a high-level meeting, here yesterday.
Jain, a Haryana cadre engineer on deputation with UT, has been on deputation with the Union Territory since June 1997. He is at present posted as UT Chief Engineer since November 1997, ever since the then Chief Engineer K. K. Jerath was supended for his alleged involvement in the engineering department kickbacks case.
Jain had come to Union Territory on deputation from Haryana in the substantive rank of superintending engineer. Though he has since been promoted as Chief Engineer in his parent state of Haryana, he has been holding the charge of Chief Engineer.
The extension to Jain in UT has also set to rest the speculation over the next incumbent of UT Chief Engineer.
