Case registered against two men
The Varachha police on Tuesday registered a case against a husband, and his brother, after his wife committed suicide reportedly due to dowry harassment. Based on a complaint by Manish Ranchhod Gadoriya on Tuesday afternoon, the police arrested the two accused residing in Varachha. The accused, the complainant said, harassed the victim for dowry and also beat her up on many occasions, due to which she committed suicide by consuming an insecticide on Monday evening. A case under sections of the Dowry Act as and the IPC has been registered in the Varachha police station.

Found dead
The Katargam police recovered the body of an unidentified 35-year-old man from the Tapi banks on Monday. According to a case registered under CrPC 174 in the police station, the body was fished out from Vaidyaraj No Owaro near A K Road. The police, who have sent the body to the New Civil Hospital, said that the deceased was a Hindu, with the picture of a deity tattooed on his forearm.

Car stolen
A Maruti 800 car (GBT 9566) belonging to one Velji Phulji Mawani, a resident of Ramkrishna Society, L H Road, was stolen from the parking lot of the society during the night hours, the police said. Mawani told the police on Tuesday morning that the car was stolen between four am and seven am when he had gone out. A case under IPC 379 has been registered.
