NAGPUR, JUNE 9: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has strongly opined against talking peace with Pakistan anymore and has instead `suggested' that the BJP-led Government take a hard line in dealing with the neighbour. The first public statement by RSS on the issue since trouble erupted in Kargil came from its general secretary H V Sheshadri. He was speaking at the valedictory ceremony of the RSS's annual all-India summer camp for selected swayamsevaks at Reshimbagh ground here on Monday.
Sheshadri's statement on the Kargil dispute is being considered as the RSS' official line in the matter. He minced no words in asserting that peace proposals do not appear to be of any use here.
``Some people cannot understand the language of Panchsheel. They can only understand the language of Pokhran. They can relate only to the language of Prithvi, Agni and Trishul,'' he said, making it clear as to what the RSS wants the BJP government's stance to be.
``The sanctity of the Himalayas is under threat. We do notwant to overstep the `Laxmanrekha' but we want to unite the country for the sake of its security,'' he added.
He said it is a matter of great satisfaction that the whole country is today standing firmly behind the brave soldiers on the front and people have risen above political and other differences.
Having said that, he pointed out that there is strife in those parts of the country where the people are drifting away from the Hindu ideology. Be it Kashmir or the Northeast, regions where the Hindu identity is under threat are the ones where violence and trouble keeps erupting, he said.
The senior RSS leader said a conspiracy had been hatched to marginalise Hindus in these areas. This internal threat will have to be countered too. The Hindu identity will have to be re-awakened, he stressed.
Just as the country faces external aggression, it faces danger from within as well, he said referring to reports that the intruders in Kargil were being helped by some people from within the country. In this, healso recalled the alleged plot to assassinate BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani in Coimbatore and the recovery of arms and explosive in different parts of the country.
``Who are these people?'' he asked and urged the common Indian citizen to be wary of such activities and fight against such people.
He lamented that in the last 50 years no serious thought was ever given to inculcating not only patriotism but also to preserving cultural and spiritual values.
The Sarkaryawah expressed concern over the rapid deterioration of morals and ethics in the country's youth. All the ills that have afflicted western societies have percolated to the Indian society as well.
