Workers beaten up, kidnapped
A case of kidnapping and assault has been registered against Haji Abdul Khan Karim Khan Pathan, Abdul, Pappu, Gulla and Chandaro, all residents of Navayard, in the Fatehgunj police station. According to the police, Dineshbhai Banjara, a brick-kiln worker, had gone to Haji's office near Chhani Jakat Naka on Tuesday to claim his and his brother's wages for the last four months, amounting to Rs. 60,000. He was accompanied by his father and younger brother Lalji. Haji asked Lalji to accompany one of his men to the bank to receive the payment while Lalji's brother and son waited in his office. When Lalji had gone from Haji's office, his brother and father were allegedly beaten up by Haji's men and thrown out of the premises. Lalji has not returned to his house in Vakaner village in Savli taluka since then.
