Workers beaten up, kidnapped A case of kidnapping and assault has been registered against Haji Abdul Khan Karim Khan Pathan, Abdul, Pappu, Gulla and Chandaro, all residents of Navayard, in the Fatehgunj police station. According to the police, Dineshbhai Banjara, a brick-kiln worker, had gone to Haji's office near Chhani Jakat Naka on Tuesday to claim his and his brother's wages for the last four months, amounting to Rs. 60,000. He was accompanied by his father and younger brother Lalji. Haji asked Lalji to accompany one of his men to the bank to receive the payment while Lalji's brother and son waited in his office. When Lalji had gone from Haji's office, his brother and father were allegedly beaten up by Haji's men and thrown out of the premises. Lalji has not returned to his house in Vakaner village in Savli taluka since then.Murdered A 25-year-old woman, Nainaben Rohit, was reportedly strangled to death in Kurali village of Padra taluka on Monday night by her husband and in-laws over her childlessness. According to the police, the deceased's relations with her husband had been strained on this issue, as well his alleged illicit relationship with a village girl. On Monday, her husband and his father strangled Nainaben to death. Her mother-in-law helped the two in the crime, the police said. A case has been registered in the Padra police station and the accused have been arrested. Man assaulted The Panigate police has registered a case of rioting against two persons -- Nilesh alias Lao Rajubhai Vanand and Kamlesh Sahebrao Saihani -- for assaulting 85-year-old Abdulbhai Ibrahimbhai Sindhi of Kishanwadi in his house. According to the police, around 11 p.m. on 8 June, the accused were passing by the road opposite Sindhi's house talking in obscene language. The old man objected to this, which provoked the accused to assault Sindhi with swords and sticks and damage his household goods. The old man was injured in the assault. Vehicles stolen In two cases of vehicle theft registered by the police, two vehicles were stolen from different places of the district during the last 24 hours. According to the police, a Luna moped (GJ-16-A-4350) worth Rs 5,000 was stolen by unknown persons, probably using duplicate keys, from the Kamatibaug parking lot, while a Yamaha motorcycle (GJ-6-M-3536) worth Rs 25,000 was stolen from Devdeep Apartment in Nizampura.
