Eight year old drowns in Tapi

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
SURAT, June 9: An eight-year-old boy drowned in the Tapi river after he accidentally slipped into it while playing on the banks with his friends on Wednesday evening. Though the boy was fished out by fire brigade personnel in an unconscious state, he was declared dead on admission to the New Civil Hospital.

According to the fire brigade, Ravi Ashok More, a resident of Bombay Colony, Rudarpura and two of his two friends -- a boy and a girl -- were playing at Naawadi Owara on the Tapi bed at around 4.30 pm on Wednesday, when Rave slipped into the waters. The fire brigade was summoned but the boy drowned in the river.
