Exclusive book fair for children opens

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE  
MUMBAI, JUNE 9: The first leg of the exclusive book fair for children was inaugurated at Y B Chavan Centre on Tuesday.

The fair, organised by Scholastic India (Pvt) Ltd, a subsidiary of the US-based publishing house Scholastic Inc, the world's largest publisher and distributor of children's books in the English language, has over 2,000 titles on display. Also on sale are books by well known Indian publishers, a fairly good collection of books in Marathi besides pictures, sketches and drawing books, science books, thrillers, Newbury titles, activity books and most importantly professional books for teachers and parents designed by teachers.

The fair will be on at Chavan Centre till June 13. It will shift venue to the Veer Savarkar Smarak, Shivaji Park, from June 16 to 20. Vile Parle's Utkarsha Mandal will host the book fair between June 23 and 27, after which it will move to Vashi's Mahatma Phule Bhavan between June 30 and July 4.

These book fairs will also mark the introduction of Scholastic School BookFairs which are organised in school premises and setting up of of Scholastic School Book Clubs which will enable children to buy school books at low prices.
