Maharashtra Govt transfers 26 bureaucrats

MUMBAI, JUNE 9: In one of the biggest ever moves of its kind by the State Government, the Sena-BJP alliance today transferred 26 top bureaucrats to provide result oriented administration.

Since Narayan Rane took over the reigns of the Government he has shifted more than 38 officials of the rank of Secretary and above. Just last week the Chief Minister asked Chief Secretary P Subramanian to proceed on leave and placed Arun Bongiwar in his place and shifted Additional Chief Secretary V Rangnathan to Home.

``The transfers were routine. Most of the officials had completed their tenure of two years on one post,'' a senior official said.

Y L Rajawade has been appointed State Election Commissioner supplanting D N Chowdhury who has retired.

BEST General Manager Vinay Mohan Lal will be the new Transport Commissioner in place of Vijay Mathankar, who has been appointed as the Additional Municipal Commissioner, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation.

High-profile Principal Secretary (Revenue and Rehabilitation)Ajit Warty will be new Commissioner, Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) in place of Man Mohan Singh, who has been shifted to the Maharashtra State Financial Corporation as its Managing Director.

Controversial Pune Municipal Commissioner Arun Bhatia will be the new Director of Archives, while Ratnakar Gaikwad, currently on study leave, will be the new civic chief there.

Higher and Technical Education Secretary V P Raja has been shifted to the Water Supply and Sanitation Department in the same capacity, while Labour Secretary M R Patil will replace him. Principal Secretary (Finance) Rajendra Singh will replace M R Patil.

Agriculture Secretary Suresh Joshi will be the new Urban Development Secretary (I) in place of K Nalinakshan, who has already taken over as the Municipal Commissioner, Mumbai. Urban Development Secretary (II) Nandlal has been shifted to the Revenue Department in place of Arun Bongiwar, who has been appointed as the Chief Secretary.

School Education SecretaryRameshchandra Kanadey will be Finance Secretary (Expenditure), while City and Industrial Development Corporation vice-chairman A P Sinha has been appointed Managing Director of Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation in place of Ashok Khot, who will take over as Managing Director, Haffkine Institute.

Cooperation Secretary S S Hussain has been shifted to CIDCO in place of A P Sinha, while Nagpur Municipal Commissioner Shivajirao Deshmukh will be the new Agriculture Secretary. Umeshchandra Sarangi will take over as the new Cooperation Secretary. MSFC Managing Director B K Agarwal has been shifted to the textile department in place of P M A Hakim, who will be the new Secretary, Department of Tribal Welfare.

Food and Drug Administration Commissioner A K Lakhina has been shited to Nagpur as the Municipal Commissioner, while Tribal Development Secretary Ramanand Tiwar will be the new Urban Development Secretary (II) in place of Nandlal. Munshilal Gautam has been appointed Secretary, General AdministrationDepartment, while Additional Municipal Commissioner Rahul Asthana will the new BEST general manager in place of Vinay Mohan Lal.

General Administration Secretary (Services) Navin Kumar will the new Secretary for Dairy Development and Animal Husbandry, while V K Agarwal, on his return from deputation, will be the new member secretary of the Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran.
