NEW DELHI, June 9: A fine all-round performance by left-handed Avinash Kumar (50 and 4 for 24) helped Rajnigandha Club beat Little Masters by 72 runs to qualify for the semifinal of DDCA Hot Weather tournament.Avinash's all-round effort overshadowed another fine bowling performance from Little Masters' Sunil Sharma who claimed five for 38, including a hat-trick. He claimed the last four wickets, first three off successive deliveries.
Batting first, Rajnigandha made 255 with left-hand opener Avinash making 50 and Ashish Sharma contributing 54. Later when Little Masters went in, Avinash struck terror with his left-arm spin and returned fine figures of 7-0-24-4.
In another match, J N Golden defeated Winsom Club by 66 runs to make the semifinal. In a match played at Palam ground yesterday, Sonnet beat Chand Khanna by eight wickets to move into the last four. Aakash Chopra's unbeaten 89 (12x4, 1x6) was the highlight of Sonnet's win.
In the last quarter-final encounter tomorrow, Madras Club will take on Rohtak Road Gymkhana at Kotla.
